Stephen Heller has taught for 33 years, mostly at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. At Stevenson, Steve teaches Freshman Accelerated English and AP American Studies, a course that combines both AP English Language and Composition and AP US History. A College Board consultant since 1999, Steve's leadership roles with College Board include member of the test development committee, service as College Board adviser for AP English Language and Composition, Question Leader, Table Leader, and Reader. Steve also served as chief editor for College Board's curriculum modules on "Using Sources" and "Expanding Definitions of Argument." Steve's most recent publications are with W.W. Norton, where he authored AP preparation materials for the most recent editions of Back to the Lake and the Norton Anthology of Nonfiction. Other publications include Documenting US History (Bedford, Freeman, and Worth, 2015), and Entering the Conversation and AP English Bound (Peoples Publishing, 2009, 2010). Additional writings have appeared in English Journal and the Illinois Bulletin of English.
