Maite Laberri is a native of Spain with extensive experience teaching MLL and Spanish. She holds a Bachelor Degree in English and Spanish Philology, and a Masters in Translation and Interpretation by the University of Valladolid in Spain and the University of Ottawa in Canada. She is a National Board Certified Teacher who has taught every level of Spanish (heritage speakers, higher education, IB, K-12 and AP Spanish Language). Maite is currently teaching Spanish 3, 4 and AP Spanish Language and Culture at Chapel Hill High School in North Carolina. She is an active College Board consultant acting as a Reader, Table and Question Leader. Maite is an active member of the following professional learning communities: FLANC, ACTFL, AATSP; and presents her expertise annually with colleagues. She is a lifelong learner and earned her AIG licensure with Elon University. In addition to her vast experience, Maite works as an active freelance consultant as a translator and subject matter expert. Her most recent project includes translating for teaching resources for the NC Department of Public Instruction and curating content for Imagine Learning. |

Course Description
This dynamic, hands-on workshop is designed to enhance teachers’ experience with the AP Spanish Language and Culture course and exam. Participants will explore the updated course framework, exam components and upcoming changes, as well as AP resources that support effective planning, instruction, assessment, and student growth.
The course provides ready-to-use classroom materials and engaging activities to help students build communicative competence, prepare for the evolving demands of the AP exam, and develop deeper insight into course content. Special emphasis will be placed on the Project component of the new exam; participants will examine its four phases and design activities to support student success.
Participants will actively engage in collaborative learning and share best practices for integrating the three modes of communication—Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational—into daily instruction to enhance student performance.
The workshop will also include a focused exploration of how to teach the AP Spanish Language and Culture themes using authentic materials and key resources from College Board, including unit guides, Personal Progress Checks, the AP Teacher Community, Chief Reader Reports, and the AP
