Cecilia Moix
Originally from El Paso, TX, I am a native speaker of both English and Spanish. I have taught AP Spanish Language and Culture for more than 18 years. I am a faculty member at Franklin Road Academy, a college preparatory school, in Nashville, TN. I am also an Adjunct Professor at Belmont University in the Liberal Arts Department, teaching Spanish at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Since 2012, I have been an AP Reader for the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam. My grading experience is in the Operative, Alternative, and International tests - Recording and Writing. As of 2021, I have conducted workshops as an AP Workshop Consultant. I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Belmont University in 2000. In 2003, while teaching at Brentwood HS, I earned my Master of Education degree from Belmont University with a certification and a License in Spanish. I have taught all levels of Spanish and the AP Spanish Language and Culture course. I have also conducted workshops for TFLTA.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This APSI for AP® Spanish Language and Culture is designed to provide resources and classroom activities to build, supplement, and develop a curriculum using authentic materials and thematic units. Topics will include the following: Developing and Integrating the three modes of communication; Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational; Proficiency across modes of communication; Teaching AP® Spanish Language and Culture across themes; Teaching and developing a culture in the AP® Spanish Language and Culture course; Support materials and CED (Course & Exam Description) for AP® world languages; Using authentic resources for thematic unit design; Developing vocabulary across levels; Integrating authentic literature in the AP® Spanish Language and Culture course; Using project-based learning a way to integrate and develop language skills; Applying the scoring criteria to student samples.
